This remote area, surrounded by steep snow-capped mountains, provides an unrivaled landscape of unbridled wildness and solitude. Forests of pine and spruce grow up rugged slopes towards the timberline while sagebrush and rabbit brush blanket the rolling hills. Magenta, white and yellow wildflowers bloom in valley meadows over 9,000 feet above sea level – creating an exceptional experience!

The Taylor Park Trading Post opened in 1940 and offers rental cabins, full hook-up RV sites, and restaurants. Furthermore, a general store and gift shop are also on-site to complete your experience at this charming destination. It makes an excellent escape from everyday life!

Ilene was born in Montrose, Colorado, on January 15, 1948. After attending Ft. Lewis College in Durango and working for Sherman and Edna Cranor at their Taylor Park Trading Post, she became fascinated with Taylor Park. She decided to remain there primarily with Bruce as her life partner, although they occasionally returned home. Taylor Park became their center.

She was an extraordinary artist who found great pleasure in painting. With an adventurous spirit and travel bug at heart, she experienced Europe, Israel, and Mexico with family and friends before returning home to be with them and her loved ones. She will be greatly missed.

She inspired all those she met, showing great affection towards her family in everything she did and accepting death without fear or regret. While she will be missed greatly by many, her legacy lives on through the loving children and grandchildren she created.

The Taylor Park Trading Post features a general store, rental cabins, full hookup RV sites, a restaurant, Nugget Cafe (serving delicious food such as Elk Chili), and a General Store offering camping/fishing convenience items as well as marine/hunting/fishing equipment and accessories.

Taylor Park Trading Post features a marina where visitors can rent boats, stand-up paddleboards, and fishing equipment from Mack-N Gnaw Grill; both services typically open between mid-May and late September.

Taylor Park trading post and Campgrounds have seen increased OHV usage recently, which has grown visitor numbers to both locations. Jones recognizes this increased attention as an opportunity to enhance both facilities while raising awareness for responsible OHV use.

Though Taylor Park Trading Post doesn’t own the campgrounds, you will likely see some off-highway vehicles (OHVs) driving in from other parks nearby or riding to it for supplies. Both establishments are situated in an area that draws many ATV enthusiasts, hunters and anglers, mountain bikers, campers, and mountain biking enthusiasts.

Last-minute supplies can be found in Almont at Three Rivers Resort General Store or 23 miles up County Rd 742 at Taylor Park Trading Post for your convenience.
